Little Man's City Garden

Earlier this year little man and hubby planted a city garden. They planted a zucchini plant, 2 giant pumpkin plants, some tomato plants and 3 green pepper plants. Little man insisted I take pictures and put them on my blog for everyone to see.

Little man grew 2 zucchinis

They planted 1 zucchini plant and got 2 zucchinis then for some reason the plant died off. (plant on left)
Ozzy and daddy also planted 2 big pumpkin plants that one of our daycare kiddos gave us. (plant on right). The pumpkin plant has since grown about 6 more feet. Crazy!

Here is one of his pumpkins (I will keep you updated when they harvest it.)

They planted the tomatoes and peppers along the fence.

Yeah! Fresh tomatoes ready to be picked.

Ozzy is so excited about his city garden, he checks it daily. He was thrilled when he got to pick the tomatoes.

Ozzy wanted Grandma to make some kinni bread with the zucchini and of course we had to take pictures.

Grandma's Zucchini Bread

Grandma said I could share her recipe with you. This recipe makes some great moist bread. Enjoy!

1c. oil
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. baking powder
2 c. chopped zucchini (Grandma does this with the food processor)
1 c. raisins (Grandma doesn't use these)
1 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix oil, sugar, eggs and zucchini. Add flour, soda, salt, baking powder and cinnamon. Mix well. Add raisins, vanilla and nuts. Bake in two greased and floured loaf pans. (Grandma uses non-stick spray). Bake on lowest rack at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes or until done. Let cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans. YUMMY for your Tummy!!

  3. How wonderful! My son asked just yesterday if he could make zucchini bread. I shuddered since he's 17 and NEVER cleans his mess without being nagged to death!

  4. Way to go, Little Man! :) You are doing a great job! We have a garden, too, so it was good to see someone else that LOVES seeing what can be produced! Keep it up!
